My first real graphics job, which I am still at now, is at State and Federal Communications, Inc. in downtown Akron, Ohio. The company focuses specifically on political compliance, keeping clients out of trouble with the ever-changing lobbying laws across the Americas and beyond. Fresh out of community college I was offered a position as a paid Graphics Intern beginning in February of 2018. I then spent almost a year and a half learning, volunteering, and networking in the office and around the Greater Akron area, thanks to the amazing opportunities offered in the internship.
In September of 2019 I became Assistant Graphic Designer, and in February 2020 I was promoted to full-time as the Graphics and Digital Media Assistant. In this position, my current one, I continue to assist creating graphics for the various conferences and events attended by staff and sponsored by the company. I also assist in creating dynamic graphics that market our services to clients and prospects, compile proposals for those same clients and prospects, and work to keep the face of the company current, keeping all the design trends in mind. I also work closely with the Manager of Marketing and Digital Media in monitoring and maintaining our social media accounts, as well as editing and publishing blog posts to the company blog LobbyComply. In 2018 I worked closely with the Manager of Corporate Social Responsibility in creating the inaugural CSR Annual Report, showcasing the company’s sustainability efforts and ability to be leaders in the community and industry in a graphic form. Due to the overwhelming positive feedback, this became a yearly effort. I have linked the archive of these reports below.
These are just some of the many things I’ve been tasked with during my 3.5 years with the company.
